The Football Accumulators results record is a way to examine what the site published and how recorded selections settled. It is not a bookmaker account statement, proof that someone placed every bet, or a forecast of the next card. Start with the counting method before looking at the profit or loss total.
Football Accumulators uses hypothetical one-unit accounting for priced selections included in its record. The unit is a consistent measurement for comparison, not a recommendation for how much money you should stake.
One combination is counted once
The same selections with the same bookmaker form one unique combination. If that combination appears in several updates, the record counts it once, using its first saved price. Later appearances are not extra bets, and a later, more attractive snapshot does not replace the original recorded price.
This distinction matters when an hourly update republishes a card whose matches have not started. Counting every appearance would multiply the apparent activity without creating a different set of selections. The record is intended to avoid that duplication.
Do not confuse unique combinations with independent outcomes, either. Two different cards can share a leg, and the same match result can affect both. When reviewing a run of results, inspect the selections as well as the number of rows.
Worked example: five appearances are not five bets
The following figures are hypothetical and are not the site's actual performance. Imagine card A appears four times with the same selections and bookmaker, while card B appears once.
| Record | Treatment | One-unit profit or loss |
|---|---|---|
| Card A: first saved price 6.00, later 6.60, wins | Count once at 6.00 | +5 units |
| Card B: loses | Count once | -1 unit |
| Card C: still pending | Not a settled loss | No settled result yet |
| Card D: unpriced | Excluded from priced performance | No invented return |
For the two settled, priced combinations, the hypothetical stakes total two units. Card A returns six units including its stake; card B returns zero. Total profit is therefore six minus two, or four units. Using A's later 6.60 price would overstate this first-saved-price example by 0.60 units.
The arithmetic describes this tiny hypothetical sample only. It gives no reason to expect the same pattern in future, and the pending card must not be silently added to either the win or loss column.
Pending, unpriced and incomplete are different
Pending means the record does not yet contain a settled outcome. It is not shorthand for “lost”, even if other matches on the card have already finished. Read the displayed state rather than inferring settlement from the first kickoff date.
Unpriced selections are excluded from the priced performance calculation. A selection can be interesting to inspect without supplying the accepted price needed for a meaningful return calculation. Do not backfill a price from memory or another bookmaker.
Some older records do not retain the underlying final scores and are labelled accordingly. That label is an evidence limitation, not an invitation to manufacture the missing scoreline. Distinguish a recorded settlement status from a fully retained match-by-match audit trail.
Check settlement before comparing your account
Your bookmaker may apply terms that depend on the product and market. Sky Bet, for example, distinguishes certain in-play enhanced accumulators from ordinary accumulators when matches are voided through postponement or abandonment (Sky Bet's settlement rules).
Compare the exact selections, bookmaker, accepted price and applicable terms before expecting a personal account to match a hypothetical site record. Read how accumulator settlement works if the return calculation itself is unclear.
A results-reading checklist
- Check the date range and whether a filter hides part of the record.
- Count unique combinations, not repeated appearances.
- Use the first saved price, not the best later snapshot.
- Keep pending outcomes separate from settled results.
- Notice unpriced exclusions and missing historical evidence.
- Read the selection methodology alongside the results, not instead of them.
A results page should support scrutiny rather than pressure you into another bet. If you are trying to recover previous losses, follow GambleAware's advice not to chase them.
